Peace Like a River
Set in small-town Minnesota, Peace Like a River is narrated by eleven-year-old Reuben Land. When his older brother Davy flees murder charges, Reuben's father sets out to track him down, bringing his other children across the frozen Badlands of North Dakota. Written in lyrical prose and filled with a cast of dubiously eccentric characters, Leif Enger's novel is an evocative tale of a family living on the fringes of the law.
